Programme Overview
The Africa CDC Mental Health Leadership Programme (MHLP) is a flagship three-year initiative designed to transform the landscape of mental health across the continent. Our objective is to equip a new generation of leaders with the skills to address mental health challenges through a dual lens of public health and human rights.
We are currently accepting applications for the Mental Health Leadership and Advocacy Course, scheduled to take place in Harare, Zimbabwe. This intensive short course prepares participants to influence policy, draft legislation, and improve clinical practice at all levels of the healthcare system.
Target Audience
We are seeking applicants who are driving innovative projects to strengthen mental health systems in Africa. This call is open to:
- Public Health Professionals: Individuals working in health policy, administration, or epidemiology.
- Mental Health Advocates: Enthusiasts and leaders driving community awareness and stigma reduction.
- Persons with Lived Experience: Individuals whose personal insights drive their commitment to systemic change.
Course Logistics and Commitment
- Duration: 12 days (2–13 March 2026).
- Venue: University of Zimbabwe, Harare.
- Attendance Policy: Selected participants must confirm availability for the entire duration. Partial attendance is not permitted.
Scholarship and Funding
The Africa CDC is offering full scholarships to selected candidates. This sponsorship covers course fees and related travel/accommodation costs.
- Africa CDC Scholarship: Available for eligible candidates demonstrating significant impact potential.
- Self-Sponsorship: Candidates with independent funding are also encouraged to apply.
