🚀 We’re Hiring: Senior Simulation Analysis Engineer, Techno-Economic Analysis | Sustainable Powertrain & Hydrogen

Hykmann Global Business Solutions AB is looking for an experienced Simulation Analysis Engineer for a strategic consulting assignment with an internationally renowned client in the automotive and sustainable mobility industry.

Are you passionate about combining engineering, simulation, and business strategy to shape the future of sustainable transportation? This role offers the opportunity to evaluate next-generation powertrain concepts, analyze hydrogen and other sustainable energy pathways, and influence technology strategy through data-driven techno-economic insights.

We’re looking for an analytical and business-minded engineer who can connect technical performance with commercial viability and help transform complex engineering analysis into strategic recommendations.

🎯 About the Role

As a Senior Techno-Economic Concept Analyst, you will contribute to powertrain technology strategy by evaluating future sustainable powertrain concepts and the energy supply chains that support them.

You will develop, adapt, and use simulation tools to analyze different energy pathways from source to vehicle, combine the results with real-world vehicle usage data, and assess the technical and commercial performance of future concepts.

Your findings will help shape technology decisions, value-chain strategies, and business models that support the availability of sustainable energy carriers, such as hydrogen, when customers need them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, adapt, and apply simulation tools to evaluate future powertrain concepts and sustainable energy pathways.
  • Conduct techno-economic analyses of energy supply chains, from energy production and distribution to vehicle use.
  • Combine simulation results with vehicle usage data to assess the technical and commercial viability of future solutions.
  • Evaluate the implications of different sustainable powertrain technologies for business performance and customer value.
  • Identify opportunities to improve product concepts, energy supply chains, and value-chain structures.
  • Develop recommendations that support long-term powertrain technology strategy and investment decisions.
  • Explore business models, strategic alliances, and partnerships that help ensure reliable access to sustainable fuels and energy carriers.
  • Analyze opportunities to improve customer uptime through dependable energy and fuel availability.
  • Translate complex technical and economic findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Collaborate closely with technology strategy and analysis teams, purchasing, public affairs, product planning, and other stakeholders.
  • Challenge existing assumptions, identify new opportunities, and contribute to strategic decision-making.

✅ Required Skills & Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of industrial experience, preferably involving hydrogen technologies or sustainable energy systems.
  • Strong technical and analytical capabilities, with the ability to evaluate complex engineering and business problems.
  • Knowledge of powertrain technologies, truck concepts, or related automotive systems.
  • Experience using MATLAB and/or Python for simulation, modelling, data analysis, or technical evaluation.
  • Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to combine engineering judgement with commercial understanding.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the confidence to present findings and influence decisions.
  • A proactive, independent, and solution-oriented approach to complex challenges.

⭐ Meritorious Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Business degree or additional education in business, economics, or strategy.
  • Experience with hydrogen technologies, sustainable fuels, or alternative energy carriers.
  • Knowledge of techno-economic modelling, energy supply chains, and lifecycle cost analysis.
  • Experience evaluating sustainable powertrain concepts and their commercial viability.
  • Understanding of the interaction between technology strategy, purchasing, product planning, and external market conditions.

👤 Our Ideal Candidate

You are an experienced engineer who enjoys looking beyond the technical details to understand the bigger business picture.

You combine analytical thinking, engineering judgement, and commercial awareness to solve practical problems and evaluate future opportunities. You are comfortable working with complex simulations, interpreting results, and turning them into recommendations that support strategic decisions.

You take initiative, build trust across teams, communicate your ideas clearly, and maintain a positive, collaborative mindset. You are motivated by the challenge of contributing to more sustainable powertrain solutions and the energy ecosystems needed to support them.

🌱 Why This Opportunity?

  • Influence future powertrain technology strategies and sustainable mobility concepts.
  • Work at the intersection of engineering, simulation, energy systems, and business strategy.
  • Explore hydrogen and other sustainable energy carriers and their role in future transportation.
