As a technology leader in metal cutting, Sandvik Coromant keeps pushing the boundaries of what advanced manufacturing can achieve. Staying ahead means continuously challenging what our products can do, which products we develop next, and how we bring them to market, ready to perform. In this role, you lead the development of our world-leading indexable tools, solid round tools, tooling systems and cutting tool grades.

01Your mission

Our products are used in manufacturing workshops and factories all over the world. To keep exceeding our customers’ high expectations, you balance customer needs, technical possibilities and business priorities. This is a role where technical depth, commercial insight and strong people leadership are essential. You lead the organization through a transformation towards becoming more customer-oriented, digitally enhanced, business-driven and faster in execution.

The location for this position is one of our sites in Sweden, Sandviken, Stockholm or Gimo.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the development of indexable tool concepts, solid round tools, tooling systems and cutting tool grades from concept through launch readiness.
  • Ensure delivery of knowledge, models and data related to product, grade, application and cutting process, for internal and external users.
  • Set and execute a market- and technology-driven strategy and roadmap for technology and knowledge development, with sustainability embedded throughout.
  • Build partnerships and strengthen collaboration within Sandvik as well as with external research eco-systems.
  • Lead and develop leaders and technical teams, ensure future capabilities and succession, and guide the organization through change.

02Join our new R&D leadership team

We’re reshaping R&D at Sandvik Coromant into a simpler, faster and more customer-focused organization, built around the capabilities that matter most for the future of machining. As a member of the new R&D leadership team, reporting to the VP R&D, you help set the direction for the entire function, strengthen collaboration across teams and sites, and accelerate innovation. Together, we build a high-performing organization defined by curiosity, speed and impact.

03Your profile

You bring senior leadership experience from industrial R&D, product development, engineering or another technology-intensive environment, including complex product portfolios and organizational change.

As a leader, you’re strategic, inclusive and business-minded. You create clarity when priorities shift, build trust across an international network and develop teams that collaborate, share knowledge and keep improving. With a customer-oriented mindset, you have the courage to prioritize and make decisions when conditions change.

To thrive in this role, you also need:

  • An advanced degree in mechanical, materials or production engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in leading leaders or large technical teams.
  • A track record of bringing complex products to market and working with global, matrixed stakeholder groups.
  • Fluency in English. Knowledge of Swedish is an advantage.
  • International and cross-cultural experience is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of metal cutting, tooling systems, cutting tool grades or industrial manufacturing is highly valued.
