02Overview

We are looking for an experienced Software Architect at Senior or Expert level to support a long-term strategic modernization program in a complex enterprise environment. The project focuses on further developing the target architecture and migrating existing Java EE applications and monolithic systems to a modern, Spring Boot-based microservices architecture.

03Responsibilities

• Analyze and model business requirements in collaboration with business departments, product teams, and other stakeholders.

• Develop and maintain target, transition, and solution architectures for the modernization of existing Java EE applications.

• Design migration strategies and deployment concepts for transitioning legacy applications to a modern Spring Boot and microservices landscape.

• Develop architectural concepts covering application design, enterprise integration, interfaces, data models, data storage, and security.

• Create solution designs, technical concepts, and prototypes to support implementation and architectural decision-making.

• Advise development teams and stakeholders on architectural decisions, technology choices, and implementation approaches.

• Collaborate with multiple agile teams within a release train, ensuring architectural consistency across teams and systems.

• Review and assess architecture concepts and solution designs provided by external vendors.

• Support the implementation, operation, and continuous development of existing and modernized systems.

• Create and maintain technical architecture documentation in accordance with project standards, including HERMES where applicable.

• Work closely with development, operations, and external partners to ensure reliable integration and successful delivery.

04Qualifications

• University degree in Computer Science or a comparable qualification.

• At least 5 years of experience as a Java Enterprise Architect for Senior level or 8 years for Expert level.

• Excellent knowledge of Java Enterprise technologies, Spring, and Spring Boot.

• Proven experience designing microservices architectures and modernizing or migrating legacy Java EE applications.

• Strong understanding of enterprise integration, interfaces, data architecture, and cloud-native architectural principles.

• Experience developing target and transition architectures, solution designs, and technical migration concepts.

• Experience working in complex enterprise environments and large-scale transformation projects.

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across business and technical teams.

• German and English language proficiency at C1 level or higher.
