Director of Engineering

01About the Role

A Series A AI risk management company is hiring a Director of Engineering to lead and scale its engineering organization. You will shape the leadership structure, operating practices, and technical culture across AI engineering and deployment engineering.

02What You'll Do

• Scale the engineering organization from an early-stage team to 100 or more people while maintaining strong execution.

• Hire and develop engineering leaders, and establish structures for effective collaboration across a globally distributed team.

• Set planning rhythms, prioritization frameworks, hiring standards, onboarding practices, and performance expectations.

• Represent engineering capabilities in discussions with customers, partners, and the broader technical community.

• Partner with company leadership on organizational strategy, headcount planning, and product and go-to-market decisions.

03What We're Looking For

• At least 5 years of engineering leadership experience, including direct accountability for hiring, team structure, and leadership development while scaling an organization from approximately 25 to 100 or more people.

• Experience leading globally distributed teams and coordinating across regions in a startup or high-growth environment.

• Technical judgment across AI engineering and deployment or production infrastructure, including experience spanning AI research, applied machine learning, and production deployment.

• Experience at a fast-growing company beyond Series B and familiarity with the organizational challenges of scaling.

• Strong public-facing technical communication skills and a degree from a highly regarded institution or equivalent professional experience.

04Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $325,000 to $365,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.

05Location

Hybrid in London, United Kingdom, with in-person work four days per week and one remote day on Tuesday or Friday.
