Job description: Join our Team

Here at Ericsson, we are not just imagining the future-we are building it. Join us in developing state-of-the-art technology for 5G, 6G, and beyond.

About the opportunity

Are you a recent graduate or an early-career software developer looking to build a rewarding career in technology? We are looking for several Software Developers to join our department as we take on exciting new challenges. We are on a mission to develop 5G, 6G, and future communication technologies-creating telecom solutions that empower billions of people worldwide. Our technologies enable applications such as remote healthcare, smart cities, autonomous vehicles, and new enterprise solutions. You will join a team of dedicated, curious, and self-motivated engineers who thrive in an environment of collaboration, creativity, and continuous learning. Located at our lively office in Lindholmen, Gothenburg, with a stunning view of the Göta Älv river, we combine technical expertise with a passion for improving the world-and having fun while doing it.

What you will do

We are looking for Software Developers to join our cross-functional team and contribute to the development of world-class telecom products. This is an opportunity to work on software that makes a real difference while developing your skills in a high-impact and innovative environment. You will work with the design and development of fast, efficient, and well-structured software for the user plane in Ericsson’s packet core solutions. Our microservices are deployed in cloud environments, giving you hands-on experience with cloud technologies, containerized systems, and modern software tools such as Git and continuous integration pipelines.

Together with the team, you will contribute to the complete feature-development process-from initial studies and design to implementation, testing, and delivery. You will collaborate with colleagues to explore new technical solutions, challenge existing approaches, and develop features using modern technologies. We are particularly interested in candidates who have a strong interest in telecom solutions in general and packet core technologies in particular. Previous experience in telecom or packet core is not required, but you should be curious and motivated to learn more about this domain and build your career within it. We value curiosity, a can-do attitude, and a willingness to try new approaches. You will also have the opportunity to explore AI-driven software development and use AI tools to support your learning, problem-solving, and everyday development work. The main programming language is C, and all team members participate in the initial system testing of the team’s deliverables.

The skills you bring
  • A BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Good programming skills, preferably in C or a similar language such as C++, Rust, or Go
  • Experience with Linux or UNIX environments
  • An interest in software development and problem-solving
  • A strong interest in telecom solutions, packet core, or communication networks-or a clear curiosity and willingness to learn more about these areas
  • A willingness to learn, collaborate, and take on new challenges
  • An interest in artificial intelligence and AI-agent development
  • An interest in learning more about the telecommunications industry
Meritorious qualifications

Experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas is an advantage:

  • Cloud and container technologies, such as Docker, Kubernetes, GCP, Amazon EKS, OpenStack, or VMware
  • Real-time software development
  • AI-agent development
  • Networking, including L2/L3 protocols, VPN, 3GPP standards, TCP, UDP, L2TP, or TLS
  • Packet core, datacom, or telecommunications
  • Python programming
