As a Development Engineer at Midsummer, you'll be part of our innovation team, working closely with colleagues across production and other functions. Together, you'll drive development, testing, qualification and certification activities that help ensure our products meet both market and sustainability requirements.

What you'll do

  • Evaluate and qualify new materials, suppliers and product solutions

  • Plan, perform and analyse testing to support product development, certification and quality improvements

  • Drive material, product and process improvements from idea through implementation

  • Coordinate product certifications and ensure compliance with relevant standards, sustainability requirements and market regulations

  • Contribute to sustainability-related initiatives, environmental documentation and product sustainability requirements

  • Maintain technical documentation, including certificates, data sheets and environmental documentation

  • Support production with troubleshooting, root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities

  • Collaborate with suppliers, purchasing, innovation, production and external partners

  • Support sales with technical expertise, customer documentation, sustainability information and product-related questions

What we're looking for

  • A few years of experience in a technical role with exposure to one or more of the areas relevant to this position.

  • A university degree in materials science, materials engineering, materials chemistry, materials physics or a related field

  • Comfortable working hands-on with products, materials and testing activities

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken

Experience working independently with troubleshooting, testing, and structured technical investigations. Experience across multiple areas such as material qualification, product certification, supplier collaboration, sustainability requirements, and technical documentation is advantageous.

Who you are

You're self-driven, structured and comfortable taking ownership of your work. You enjoy collaborating across different functions and can communicate technical information clearly to colleagues, suppliers and customers.

You combine attention to detail with a practical mindset and enjoy both analysis and hands-on problem-solving. When challenges arise, you're able to work independently, identify root causes and drive activities forward.

Most importantly, you're someone who sees things through. You take ownership, stay persistent when obstacles appear, and have the determination to turn ideas, investigations and improvement initiatives into completed results.

About Midsummer

Midsummer is a Swedish solar energy company that develops and manufactures lightweight, flexible and discreet solar panels based on CIGS thin-film technology.

Our silicon-free solar cells are approximately 90% lighter and have approximately 90% lower carbon emissions than traditional silicon-based solar panels. They are manufactured at our production facilities in Järfälla, Sweden, and Bari, Italy, using our production technology.

Under the Midsummer Machinery brand, we also supply production systems for flexible thin-film solar cells.

In this role, you'll contribute to the continued development, qualification, certification and sustainability performance of our solar technology.
