National Park Service
Job Description
Full description from the employer, as published by USAJobs.
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement - 11/06/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Competitive candidates must also meet Time-in-Grade requirements as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of specialized experience that you will be granted.
An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the work schedule requirement as the service dates will be reflected.
For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position at the GS-09 grade level, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors).
Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience in at least two of the following: assisting with environmental compliance and planning activities by researching and applying environmental laws, regulations, and policies; collecting and analyzing environmental data; conducting site inspections; reviewing environmental documents; preparing reports and recommendations; and evaluating the environmental effects of projects or proposed actions.
You must include hours per week worked. -OR- Education: Successful completion of at least a master's or equivalent graduate degree in environmental science or a directly related field; OR have completed 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree (36 semester hours, 54 quarter hours, or equivalent); OR an LL.B. or J.D., if related to this position.
You must include transcripts. -OR- Combination of specialized experience and more than 1 year of graduate education as described above that, when combined, meets 100% of the total requirements for the position. Note: To compute, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond 1 year by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify.
Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position at the GS-11 grade level, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors).
Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience in at least three of the following: independently planning and managing environmental compliance projects; preparing or reviewing environmental compliance documents, such as Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements; evaluating environmental impacts of proposed actions; interpreting and applying environmental laws, regulations, and policies; coordinating with agencies and stakeholders; and developing recommendations to ensure environmental compliance and mitigate environmental impacts.
You must include hours per week worked. -OR- Education: Successful completion of at least a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in environmental science or a directly related field; OR have completed 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree (54 semester hours, 81 quarter hours, or equivalent); OR an LL.M., if related to this position.
You must include transcripts. -OR- Combination of specialized experience and more than 2 years of graduate education as described above that, when combined, meets 100% of the total requirements for the position. Note: To compute, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond 2 years by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
