Facility Operations Specialist

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in the planning of facility maintenance, repair, and construction projects, within regulated environment.

Participating in facility inspections to identify physical plant deficiencies and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and life safety standards (such as Life Safety Code or The Joint Commission). Gathering data, performing basic cost estimations, and drafting portions of work packages or technical descriptions for facility projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in engineering, industrial arts, property management, or business administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Serve as the primary point of contact and liaison between facility leadership, clinical staff, and external contractors to coordinate maintenance activities with minimal disruption to patient care.,Monitor contractor performance on-site to ensure work aligns with technical specifications, safety protocols, and established project timelines.,Research, identify, and initiate procurement requests for specialized tools, equipment parts, and maintenance materials required for facility operations.,Generate recurring and ad-hoc facility status reports, tracking key performance metrics such as work order completion rates and utility consumption.,Conduct routine safety briefings and coordinate mandatory training schedules for maintenance staff to ensure compliance with OSHA and organizational safety policies.
