Job description

About the role

Full text from the employer, as published on Arbetsförmedlingen (JobTech), arranged into sections. Nothing added or removed.

At Enginzyme, we’re pioneering biomanufacturing by combining the power of enzymes with our proprietary enzyme immobilisation platform (EziG®), process engineering, and an automated smart lab.

We are looking for a Research Assistant to join our Process Engineering team, where we bridge the gap between lab, pilot and commercial scale implementation of our immobilised biocatalysts. You will contribute hands-on to our catalyst testing and process development activities. You'll be part of a tight-knit and quick-moving R&D group aiming to push catalysts to their limits, and we want to invite you to come along for the journey.

This is a one-year position with the possibility of extension. The role is on site at our office in Solna, Stockholm and a valid working permit is required.

01What you’ll do

Experimental reaction engineering is at the core of how we develop our processes. Your challenge will be to generate high-quality experimental data to drive our process and catalyst development.

Key tasks and responsibilities in this role are:

  • Plan, set up and carry out experiments in catalytic reaction engineering
  • Measure and evaluate catalyst activity, selectivity and stability under different operating conditions, and collect kinetic data
  • Help identify catalyst deactivation mechanisms through well-designed experimental studies
  • Support the evaluation of operating windows for specific chemistries
  • Analyse experimental data and keep clear, well-documented records of your work
  • Contribute to the commissioning and maintenance of lab-scale reactor setups
  • Create high-quality reports and presentations to communicate experimental findings to the team and the company
  • Contributing to the safe and efficient operation of the laboratory

02Who you are

We’re looking for a motivated early-career engineer who would thrive in a fast-paced R&D environment.

  • You have a MSc in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • You have +1 years of wet lab research experience, in academia or industry.
  • You have a solid foundation in chemical reactor engineering
  • You feel comfortable working in a laboratory environment, prioritize safety, and are methodical in executing and documenting experiments.
  • You are fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Practical experience with experimental heterogeneous catalysis is a strong advantage.
  • In terms of personal qualities, we’re looking for someone who is passionate about their work, who is dependable and who wants to push boundaries. And, not least, who is also a friendly, cooperative person. If this describes you, you'll fit in with the rest of the team!

03What we can offer you

  • A people-driven, forward-looking company of 30+ people from more than 15 nationalities.
  • A collaborative and multidisciplinary team shaping the future of industrial biotech.
  • A start-up environment with minimal red tape, real responsibility and ownership, and room to learn and grow.
  • A competitive salary and wellness grant.
  • 25 days of paid annual leave plus bridge days, comprehensive occupational health, injury and life insurance, and a robust occupational pension plan.
