We are looking for a collaborative Associate Forward Deployed AI Scientist (Graduate / Junior Data Scientist), at the start of their tech career, with foundational technical skills and eagerness to learn to join our Forward Deployed AI team at Nordea. You will learn to design and build scalable AI solutions under the guidance of experienced professionals.

This position is a full-time, permanent role with hybrid working location based in Helsinki, Finland, Gdańsk / Gdynia / Warsaw, Poland, Copenhagen, Denmark, or Stockholm, Sweden. 02About our team

Meet the Forward Deployed AI team. We are a collaborative and result-driven team working closely with every part of the bank to execute AI use cases. Our deep connections throughout Nordea and trusted reputation enable us to mentor new graduates and transform ambitious AI visions into practical, impactful solutions.

In this role, you will be embedded with the business areas with senior guidance, building strong partnerships and gaining deep domain expertise. This collaboration creates natural pathways for future career development, including potential transitions into business teams where your AI expertise will be highly valued.

03Main responsibilities in this role include, but are not limited to

• Learn to design, develop, and scale transformative AI applications from concept to production to create technology that makes a real impact
• Contribute to development of AI applications that solve meaningful problems, partnering with cross-functional teams throughout the development lifecycle under mentorship
• Support engineers and product teams in translating business needs into practical AI solutions
• Explore emerging AI tools and frameworks with guidance; share insights and assist in building proof-of-concepts to drive AI execution
• Develop foundational skills and knowledge covering advanced machine learning models and algorithms for various business applications 

04Who you are

You will thrive in this role if you are excited to start your career building AI solutions that solve real-world problems and drive meaningful change. You bring a growth mindset, collaborative problem-solving skills and strong communication abilities. We believe the person we are looking for have around three or less years of professional experience and are eager to start their career.

We are looking for recent graduates and final-year students with various academic backgrounds, qualifying for most of the following requirements: 

• BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Engineering Physics, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent academic experience (completed or graduating by summer 2027) 
• Academic projects, internships, or personal projects involving AI/ML concepts and basic implementation
• Foundational software engineering skills with basic proficiency in Python and willingness to learn scalable, maintainable coding practices
• Eagerness to learn model implementation and optimization for production use
• Basic understanding or willingness to learn cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP), particularly AI/ML and data services
• Excellent collaboration skills and enthusiasm for working with diverse teams including data scientists, engineers, and product stakeholders

05It would be ideal if you also have

• Academic interest or coursework in Generative AI and Machine Learning technologies
• Project experience from agile environments or participation in tech-driven transformation projects
• Academic exposure or personal projects with agent development frameworks and harnesses such as LangGraph, Deep Agents, AutoGen, CrewAI or similar, including multi-agent coordination and sub-agent delegation
• Basic understanding of testing methodologies and interest in learning performance monitoring and maintaining reliability in production environments
