Head of Operations (GPU Fleet)
About the role
Full text from the employer, as published on Arbeitnow, arranged into sections. Nothing added or removed.
01Your mission
Demand for sovereign European compute is not our constraint. Capacity is. As Head of Operations you own Lyceum's GPU fleet end to end: every GPU we own, lease or operate for partners, from the first conversation with a data center to the day a node goes live and every day it runs after that.
The job has two halves. Grow the fleet: turn new financing into live GPUs, fast. Run the fleet: keep everything we operate available, efficient and under contract. Your north star is GPUs under management. You report directly to the CEO and work closely with the CFO, CTO and engineering. Depending on experience, we hire this role at Head or VP level.
02What You'll Do
Secure data center capacity across Europe: power, liquid cooling, space, connectivity and colocation leases
Own relationships with OEMs and suppliers for servers, networking and storage, and manage lead times so hardware arrives when we need it
Run every deployment as a programme, from logistics and installation to burn-in, acceptance and handover to engineering
Keep the financing side of deployments clean: schedules, drawdown milestones, asset records, insurance and lender reporting
Run the live fleet together with engineering: availability, incidents, RMAs, warranty, spares and remote hands
Own supply-side contracts, renewals and SLAs, and drive down cost per GPU-hour
Build the operations team and the operating rhythm that lets us scale deployments without scaling chaos
03What We're Looking For
A track record of bringing physical infrastructure online at scale, ideally data centers, GPU or HPC clusters, or comparable hardware-heavy environments
You have owned the whole picture, from capacity and suppliers to deployment and live operations, not one slice of it
Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking. You see the whole board, from site selection to unit economics
Enough technical depth to hold your own with engineers and vendors on power, cooling, networking and hardware
Strong programme management: you run complex projects with many parties against hard deadlines
Confidence negotiating and managing contracts with data centers, OEMs and suppliers
You have built and led teams from scratch and still go deep into the details yourself
Very high sense of urgency and ownership
You make good decisions fast with incomplete information and prefer momentum over perfection
Strong written and verbal communication in English, German is a plus. Willingness to travel across Europe
04Why us?
Outstanding team: Work with some of the best engineers in the world, coming from hedge funds, big tech, AI startups and top universities
Once in a lifetime opportunity: Early-stage company in the fastest-growing market in the world
Ownership: Shape how European AI companies access GPU compute
European mission: Build sovereign, GDPR-compliant AI infrastructure for the next generation of deep-tech
