About the role

Wordsmith Wordsmith is building the legal operating system for in-house teams, and we are growing fast. We believe in-house legal is becoming one of the most important functions in the AI era. Every business is moving faster, but legal work is still too often scattered across inboxes, chats, documents and disconnected systems. Wordsmith brings that work into one system. Requests come in from across the business, AI agents handle the routine, lawyers stay in control where judgement matters, and every step is captured as work happens. We are built for in-house legal, not law firms. Our goal is to help legal teams move faster, reduce unnecessary external counsel spend and become a function the business can run with. More than 500 companies, including Financial Times, Safelite, Trip.com, Canva, Starling and Sage, use Wordsmith. Backed by over $100M from Index Ventures, General Catalyst, Highland Europe and others, we are building one of the defining companies in legal AI.

The role Delivery Lead’s run our most complex customer engagements, from kickoff to go-live and beyond. Some deployments are larger than others. They involve multiple legal teams across regions, several integrations, demanding IT and security requirements, and senior stakeholders with different priorities. On these engagements, you'll own the plan and the outcome. That means scope, milestones, dependencies, risks, governance and communication, so that our Legal Engineers and Deployment Engineers can focus on the build.

You'll work side by side with both. Legal Engineers configure the platform around how the legal team works, and Deployment Engineers connect it to the customer's systems. You'll make sure the two work streams move together, that the customer is ready for each one, and that everyone, on our side and theirs, knows what happens next and who owns it. It's part delivery lead, part stakeholder manager, and part problem solver.

You don't need to be a lawyer or an engineer. We're looking for experienced project managers who have run complex enterprise technology rollouts, who are comfortable with senior stakeholders, and who keep a programme moving when it gets difficult.

01What you'll do

  1. Own the Engagement

  • Run our most complex customer engagements end to end, from kickoff through go-live to handover

  • Build and own the project plan, including scope, milestones, dependencies, owners and timelines, and hold everyone to it

  • Be the customer's main point of contact for delivery, and the person accountable for getting them live

  1. Lead the Delivery Team

  • Coordinate Legal Engineers and Deployment Engineers so configuration and integration workstreams move in step

  • Sequence the work so dependencies are resolved before they block progress

  • Bring in Legal Intelligence, Support Engineering, Product and Engineering when the engagement needs them

  1. Stakeholders & Governance

  • Run kickoffs, steering committees and status reporting with General Counsel, Legal Ops, IT and procurement

  • Align stakeholders with competing priorities, and keep decisions, actions and changes documented

  • Manage scope carefully, agreeing changes explicitly rather than letting them drift

  1. Risk & Change

  • Identify delivery risk early, including resourcing, dependencies, customer readiness and timelines, and act on it

  • Escalate to the VP of Transformation with clear options when an engagement needs intervention

  • Help customers prepare their teams for change, working with Enablement on rollout and training

  1. Improve How We Deliver

  • Turn what you learn into delivery templates, governance models and planning standards for complex engagements

  • Share patterns and recurring blockers with the wider Transformation team and Product

02What we're looking for

  • Experience running complex enterprise technology implementations or programmes, ideally SaaS and ideally legal tech

  • A track record of delivering multi-workstream projects on time, with many stakeholders and dependencies

  • Confident with senior stakeholders, including General Counsel, CIOs and procurement, and able to hold a room

  • Technical enough to understand integrations, SSO and configuration well enough to plan them and spot risk

  • Strong understanding of how in-house legal teams work, or the curiosity to learn it quickly

  • Disciplined about scope, governance and documentation without being bureaucratic

  • Calm under pressure, with the judgement to escalate at the right moment

  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication

03Typical Backgrounds Include

  • Project or programme managers in enterprise SaaS

  • Delivery leads from technology consultancies

  • Legal Operations Professionals who have led a major technology rollout

  • Implementation managers in CLM or legal tech

04How we work

We're an in-person team based in Edinburgh or London. You should expect to work from the office or visit customers as your default.

We set a high bar, move quickly and give people meaningful ownership. There will not always be an established playbook, so you'll need to bring curiosity, structure and persistence to unfamiliar situations.

You'll sit in the Transformation team, reporting to the VP of Transformation, and work closely with our Legal Engineers and Deployment Engineers, alongside Legal Intelligence, Enablement, Customer Success, Support Engineering and Product.

Our customer teams have clear but closely connected responsibilities: Transformation leads implementation, Support

Engineering resolves technical issues, Account Management owns renewals and commercial growth, Customer Success owns adoption, customer health and value realisation, and Enablement owns onboarding, training and customer capability.

05Why Wordsmith

Wordsmith is growing quickly, winning new customers and expanding within larger organisations. Our largest customers are some of the most complex legal functions anywhere, and how well we deliver for them shapes adoption, renewal and expansion. Project Managers are the people who make those engagements succeed.

You'll work directly with ambitious in-house legal teams, see how dozens of legal functions really operate, and take that back into a product you help shape. You will lead experienced Legal Engineers and Deployment
