About the role

01Your Mission

We are looking for an Aerodynamics Engineer to join the Flight Physics team. You will further evolve aerodynamic characterization of the Microliner aircraft. Responsibilities include performing trade studies, expanding aerodynamic databases, and contributing to testing campaigns in both laboratory and flight environments. Your work will directly contribute to detailed design of specific aerodynamic features on the aircraft.

You will work closely with Propulsion, Structures, Systems, and Certification teams for data exchange, planning of compliance demonstration campaigns, and further requirement capturing.

02Your Day-to-Day

  • Conduct comprehensive simulation campaigns using in-house and commercial tools: from pre-processing and execution to post-processing, dataset management and interpretation/visualisation.

  • Conduct systematic mesh refinement and grid independence studies to ensure numerical rigor, solution convergence, and high-quality data generation.

  • Perform uncertainty quantification and validation activities against analytical and wind tunnel test data to ensure reliable and robust aerodynamic databases.

  • Perform transient CFD simulations of the propeller-airframe configuration for loads calculations, vibration analysis, and installation effects.

  • Perform flow simulations of the cabin and cockpit compartments to optimize ECS performance.

  • Set-up and further development of simulation toolchains.

  • Participate on activities related to aircraft design and analysis.

  • Closely collaborate with your colleagues specialized in flight dynamics, loads, aeroelasticity, and aerodynamics.

  • Create and maintain documentation.

  • Ensure consistent data as part of aircraft baselining.

  • Support and participate in design reviews.

  • Prepare and manage simulations.

03Your Profile

  • Master’s and/or PhD degree in Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent.

  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience aerodynamic simulation, preferably within CS 23 aircraft programs operating under a DOA environment or international equivalent.

  • Demonstrated experience in CFD simulations; ANSYS Fluent is a plus.

  • Solid understanding of propulsion aerodynamics.

  • Demonstrated experience in internal flow calculations and low Reynolds number flows.

  • Proficiency in coding (Matlab or alternatively Python).

  • Proficiency in PLM; Dassault’s 3DX platform is a plus.

  • Experience across the full product development lifecycle, from conceptual and preliminary design through detailed design, verification, validation, and certification (CS 23 or CS 25) is a plus.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional European languages are an asset.

  • Self-driven, solution-oriented professional with strong ownership mindset and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic development environment.

  • Strong personal motivation for aviation and the advancement of electric aircraft technologies.

We recognize that women and other under-represented groups are often overlooked in our industry. If you’re excited about this role but don’t meet every listed qualification, we still encourage you to apply. Talent and potential can’t always be captured in a checklist.

04Why us?

  • Be part of an ambitious team determined to shape the future of aviation.

  • We are an in-office company, but we value flexibility and trust employees to manage their schedules responsibly. This may include occasional remote work or adjusting hours to accommodate personal commitments.

  • Enjoy a subsidized lunch with a 5€ company contribution per meal on office days.

  • Become a part of our success with virtual stock options.

  • Choose the option that suits your needs: either a free charging station for your electric car or a public transport job ticket as part of the Deutschlandticket.

  • Lease a high-quality bicycle or e-bike through our JobRad program and benefit from tax advantages. Whether for your daily commute or personal use, enjoy more mobility and sustainability.

  • Pension scheme to support your long-term financial security.

  • Work in one of our offices in Munich or Delft. Enjoy the modern Balan Campus in Munich or work inside the aerospace ecosystem at TU Delft.

  • Boost your professional as well as personal growth executing your own ideas and independent projects.

  • Join our internal social events and retreats (e.g. cooking, game nights, sports).
