01About the team
The Payments Intelligence organization builds the systems that optimize payments across Stripe’s global network. We develop data-driven products that help businesses maximize revenue while minimizing fraud, disputes, and payment costs.
The Disputes team builds products that help businesses prevent, manage, and resolve payment disputes. We are creating an increasingly automated, end-to-end experience from helping cardholders recognize purchases and resolving issues before they become disputes, to recovering revenue when disputes do occur. Our products help businesses reduce operational effort, maintain healthy dispute rates, and stay in good standing with payment networks.
Dispute Prevention is a fast-growing product area with an ambitious vision: make Stripe’s intelligence and network capabilities available to businesses of every size, including large platforms and businesses that process payments across multiple providers. We work across Stripe and with external partners to turn a complex, fragmented ecosystem into products that are simple to adopt, easy to operate, and capable of delivering measurable value at scale.
02What you’ll do
As a product manager on the Dispute Prevention team, you’ll shape the next generation of products that help businesses prevent and resolve disputes. You’ll define the vision and strategy for a fast-growing product area, expanding our capabilities across customer segments, platforms, and payment-processing environments. You’ll help users reduce purchase confusion, maintain healthy dispute rates, and recover more revenue by combining network technologies with Stripe’s data and intelligence. Your work will move businesses toward an automated, hands-off approach to dispute management and help connect prevention with the broader end-to-end disputes experience.
You’ll work at the intersection of customer needs and commercial opportunities to shape what we build and how we bring it to market. Working closely with engineering, data science, design, and go-to-market teams, you’ll build products and relationships that deliver lasting value to customers and partners. You’ll connect technical decisions to commercial outcomes while maintaining a high bar for reliability, craft, and the details that make complex products feel simple.
03Responsibilities
- Develop a deep understanding of the payments and disputes landscape, including how businesses prevent and manage disputes, how payment networks and ecosystem partners operate, and where new technologies can improve outcomes.
- Work directly with businesses, developers, platforms, and partners to uncover unmet needs, understand integration and operational challenges, and identify opportunities to build broadly useful products.
- Develop and communicate a clear product vision, strategy, and roadmap that advances Stripe’s goal of making dispute management increasingly automated and effortless.
- Shape products that serve businesses of different sizes and business models, including platforms and businesses operating across multiple payment processors.
- Partner closely with engineering and data science to translate Stripe’s data and intelligence into understandable, actionable products that automate workflows and optimize for user-defined outcomes.
- Drive product development from ideation through launch and scale, setting clear goals, prioritizing thoughtfully, navigating technical and ecosystem dependencies, and executing with rigor.
- Build strong relationships with payment networks, vendors, and technology partners to bring new capabilities to market, improve existing solutions, and translate customer needs into shared priorities.
- Own the product’s business performance, including P&L, pricing, commercial terms, and long-term growth. Use market research and competitive analysis to inform product and investment decisions.
- Collaborate deeply with sales, marketing, partnerships, and other go-to-market teams to validate demand, develop positioning, support strategic customers, and grow adoption and market share.
- Communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders about priorities, trade-offs, progress, and results, building alignment across teams you don’t directly manage.
04Who you are
We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
05Minimum requirements
- 8+ years of product management experience, ideally in B2B software
- Highly analytical, with a rigorous approach to quantitative and qualitative evidence. You’re comfortable digging into data, writing SQL when needed, and connecting product decisions to user and business outcomes.
- Scrappy and resourceful, with experience taking products from zero to one. You thrive in early-stage environments, test ideas quickly, and turn what you learn into products that scale.
- Strong commercial and business acumen. You understand how customer needs, market dynamics, and product differentiation translate into adoption and durable business value.
- Proven cross-functional leadership, including experience partnering with B2B sales teams on customer discovery, technical evaluation, and commercialization.
- Experience shipping Dashboard and API products, with empathy for end users and developers alike.
- Experience developing pricing and monetization models for B2B products.
- Technical fluency to go deep with engineers on APIs, system architecture, and integration trade-offs, and to explain those decisions clearly to customers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for distilling complex user problems into precise, actionable framing.
- An ownership mindset and a high bar for product quality. You do what it takes to solve user problems and care deeply about the details of the experience.
06Preferred qualifications
- Experience building fraud prevention, risk, or banking products.
- Experience building developer platforms and working with integration partners, including navigating technical dependencies and high-stakes external relationships.
