With an international presence and extensive engineering capabilities, the company supports enterprise clients across multiple industries in designing, developing, and implementing technology-driven business solutions.

Our client is expanding its Retail & Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) practice in the DACH region and is looking for a consultant with deep e-commerce knowledge, technical understanding, and client-facing advisory experience.

02The Role

As a Senior Consultant, Digital Commerce, you will help grow our client's Retail & CPG business by translating business challenges into technology solutions and consulting engagements.

This is a hands-on functional consulting role with a strong technical and pre-sales component. You will work closely with senior client stakeholders, sales teams, and technical specialists to shape digital commerce solutions, lead discovery workshops, and support new business opportunities.

The ideal candidate understands how different e-commerce platforms and customer-facing technologies work together, can advise clients on the right solutions, and is comfortable collaborating with commercial teams.

03Key Responsibilities

• Advise Retail & CPG clients on e-commerce, digital customer experience, personalization, customer data and technology transformation.
• Translate business requirements into solution concepts, capability roadmaps and target architectures.
• Lead discovery sessions and solution design workshops with business and IT stakeholders.
• Advise on the integration of commerce platforms, CDPs, marketing technologies, PIM, OMS and other digital commerce systems.
• Collaborate with sales and pre-sales teams to identify client opportunities, develop proposals and shape consulting engagements.
• Stay informed about DACH retail trends, marketplace dynamics, emerging technologies and changing customer expectations.
• Develop reusable consulting assets, including reference architectures, solution frameworks, demonstrations and go-to-market offerings.
• Build relationships with senior decision-makers, including CDOs, CMOs, CIOs, and Heads of E-commerce.
• Collaborate with regional and global technology teams to support the growth of the Retail & CPG practice.
• Represent the company at client meetings, industry conferences, and relevant networking events.

We are particularly interested in candidates who understand the broader digital commerce ecosystem and how its different technologies connect.

Relevant areas include:

• E-commerce platforms: commercetools, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, SAP Commerce, Adobe Commerce, Shopify Plus, headless and composable commerce.
• Customer data and CDPs: Salesforce Data Cloud, Adobe Real-Time CDP, Segment, mParticle, Tealium, Bloomreach, first-party data and consent management.
• Marketing technology and personalization: Braze, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Klaviyo, Emarsys, Dynamic Yield, Algolia, Optimizely and customer journey optimization.
• Commerce architecture and integrations: OMS, PIM, DAM, APIs, system integrations, distributed order management and omnichannel fulfillment.
• Marketplaces and retail media: Amazon, Zalando, Otto, Kaufland, retail media networks, marketplace integrations and D2C business models.
• Emerging commerce technologies: AI-assisted shopping, conversational commerce, GenAI applications, loyalty solutions and digital customer engagement.

Expertise across every platform is not required. What matters most is understanding how these technologies work together and recommending solutions that match clients' business needs.

05Your Profile

• At least 5 years of relevant experience in e-commerce or digital commerce, ideally within Retail & CPG.
• Background in IT consulting, digital transformation, systems integration, technology services, or digital commerce consulting.
• Technical-functional understanding of e-commerce platforms, system integrations, data flows, and digital customer-facing solutions.
• Experience working directly with clients, gathering requirements, leading workshops, and developing solution recommendations.
• Familiarity with pre-sales processes and the ability to collaborate effectively with sales teams.
• Understanding of the DACH retail and CPG market, including major retailers, marketplace dynamics, digital commerce trends, and GDPR requirements.
• Ability to communicate complex technology concepts to both business and technical stakeholders.
• Professional fluency in German and English.
• Willingness to travel approximately 30-40% across the region.

06Nice to Have

• Previous experience within an IT service provider or digital engineering consultancy.
• Experience in technical pre-sales, proposal development, RFPs, or solution shaping.
• Existing relationships within the DACH Retail & CPG ecosystem.
• Experience developing consulting offerings, reference architectures, or reusable technology accelerators.
• Exposure to cloud platforms, data analytics, AI, and custom application development.
• Knowledge of retail media, marketplace integrations, pricing and promotion technologies, or loyalty solutions.
