01About Agent F
Agent F is building an autonomous finance function: software that takes on the work of keeping a company’s finances in order. That means bringing information together from different systems, recording transactions correctly, preparing useful reports, and helping people understand what needs their attention.
Today, much of this work depends on spreadsheets, repeated data entry and people checking one system against another. Our ambition is to make that work increasingly automatic, while keeping every number explainable and every consequential action under clear control.
We are building towards a complete business management system for growing companies. These founding roles will shape both the product and the way we build it.
02About the role
You will own how customers experience Agent F, from landing pages and product demonstrations through onboarding and migration to the work they do every day. A founder looking at their finances for the first time and a controller investigating a discrepancy need different levels of detail. Both should understand where they are, what a number means and what to do next.
This combines product design with hands-on front-end engineering. You will talk to customers, shape the journey, design the interactions and ship them in the product. You will use AI coding agents to help implement changes, and take responsibility for reviewing the code and checking the finished experience.
Your work will connect the product into a coherent whole: consistent navigation, familiar controls and clear explanations across features. You will also own the steps that turn an interested visitor into an active, paying customer.
03What you will build and improve
An engaging path from first interest to a useful result. Connect landing pages and product demonstrations to sign-up, account setup and the first session so a customer understands what to provide and what they will get back. Measure where people abandon the process and address the causes.
A migration experience people can follow. Help customers bring in their history from accounting software or spreadsheets. Make upload progress, missing information, validation errors and next steps understandable.
A consistent product experience. Develop the design language, navigation and reusable components used across the product. Make tables, forms and reports behave predictably, including loading, empty and error states.
Useful decision screens. Design views that help customers compare recommendations, understand costs and choose what happens next. Our planned evidence board brings this information together as customers describe their needs.
Interfaces that earn trust. Help users see where a figure came from, understand a proposed change and review it before approval. Include accessibility, keyboard use and clear language in the implementation.
Improvements grounded in actual use. Keep up with the customer pipeline, from interested prospects to customers onboarding or migrating. Observe customer sessions and work with the customer-facing team. Turn recurring questions into product changes, then check whether those changes helped.
For example, a customer uploads a file and sees a different total from the one they expected. You would design the journey that explains what was imported, what needs checking and how to resolve the difference, working with the data engineer on the underlying evidence.
04What you bring
You have five or more years of experience designing and shipping software, including business-to-business software sold as a service (B2B SaaS). You may come from product design with strong engineering skills, or from front-end engineering with substantial design ownership.
You can show a product journey you improved, explain the choices you made and describe the effect on customers. You have owned an onboarding, activation or conversion measure: whether people got started, reached a useful result or became paying customers.
05Core experience
Product design across information architecture, interaction design and visual design.
Production front-end work with React, TypeScript, CSS and reusable components, including reviewing and debugging code generated by agents.
Building or maintaining a design system that other people use.
Customer research, usability testing and product analytics that inform what you ship.
Daily use of AI coding agents, with a clear approach to specifications, review and verification.
Clear written explanations of design decisions and their trade-offs.
06Useful additional experience
Financial software, complex tables and dashboards, or products where people need to inspect the source of a result. Experience with configuration-driven interfaces, where shared rules and data determine how a screen is assembled, would also be useful.
07What early progress could look like
In your first months, you would map the main customer journeys, establish a baseline for onboarding and conversion, and ship an improvement to a step where customers regularly get stuck. Alongside that, you would start consolidating repeated interface patterns into reusable components.
We would look for evidence that customers reach a useful result sooner, complete more of the journey independently and need less help with the interface. The exact priorities will follow the customer needs you find with the team.
08Operational excellence and customer commitments
You take pride in a product customers can depend on under pressure. When sign-up, migration or a critical financial workflow breaks, you step in, establish what the customer needs and work with the team to restore a safe path forward. A misleading balance, missing transaction or incorrect status can be a financial emergency even when the page loads normally. You make the problem visible, help contain its impact and verify the complete customer journey after a fix.
Customer commitments shape how we work. You are willing to interrupt planned work, respond promptly and stay engaged when an urgent issue puts a service-level agreement (SLA), onboarding commitment or financial deadline at risk. That requires flexibility beyond normal working hours as part of agreed on-call coverage and coordinated incident response. You keep people informed and see the issue through to a verified recovery or an explicit handover. Afterwards, you improve the system so the same emergency becomes less likely.
09How you will work
This is a senior founding role in a small team, with scope to shape product decisions and engineering practice. You will work closely with the engineers responsible for platform operations and customer data. You will carry work from customer observation through implementation and release, then follow up on how it performs.
Everyone shares responsibility for the whole product and the customer outcome. You will pick up the most important work or whatever is on fire, including tasks outside your specialty. You take initiative, bring in the right expertise and stay involved until the problem is resolved. Customer impact and urgency determine where you focus.
The role is full-time and in-person in Berlin. German is not required.
