Job description

About the role

01About Isembard

Isembard is building a network of high-performance factories for critical industries. We combine advanced machine tools, robotics and our own software, MasonOS, to make precision components for aerospace, defence, energy and frontier technology companies, with factories across the UK, US, Germany and France. Our mission is to forge industrial acceleration.

02The role

Own dimensional inspection at our Hamburg factory, from CMM programming and first article inspection to non-conformance root cause and audit readiness.

You will build the metrology function rather than inherit one: inspection programmes, probing and datum strategy, gauge calibration, and how quality data flows back into machining and MasonOS. You program it, you measure it, you sign it off.

03What you'll do

  • Program and optimise CMM inspection routines in PC-DMIS, Zeiss Calypso or equivalent for complex, tight-tolerance parts.

  • Run first article inspection (EN 9102), in-process inspection and final sign-off for aerospace, defence and energy work.

  • Set probing strategy, fixturing and datum schemes, and build inspection fixtures where needed.

  • Find the root cause of non-conformances and take the corrective action back to the machine with our machinists and CAM programmers.

  • Own calibration of all measuring equipment and keep records to EN 9100 standard, ready for customer and certification audits.

04What we're looking for

  • Several years of hands-on CMM programming in precision manufacturing, aerospace or a machine shop.

  • Strong practical command of PC-DMIS and/or Zeiss Calypso.

  • Deep working knowledge of GD&T and ISO GPS, and confident with customer 3D CAD models.

  • Aerospace inspection documentation: FAI, AS9102 or EN 9102.

  • Able to measure and verify tolerances of ±0.01 mm and tighter.

05Nice to have

  • Building a quality function from scratch, or taking a site through EN 9100 or AS9100.

  • GD&T certification or a quality management qualification.

  • In-process probing on 5-axis machines with closed-loop correction.

  • SPC and process capability analysis.

  • Some English, for working with our UK and US teams.

06Why Isembard

  • Own the quality function of a new factory from day one.

  • Work on mission-critical aerospace and defence components.

  • Set inspection standards that our network will use.

  • Competitive salary and equity.

Location: On-site at our Hamburg factory.
