Q ENERGY is Europe’s 360° green energy company. Together with our more than 500 employees we develop, build, and manage renewable energy assets across the entire value chain of large-scale renewable energy projects, from solar, to onshore wind and offshore wind, to energy storage and hybrid power plants. With a pipeline of more than 11 GW we are among the leading renewable energy companies in Europe. We are always on the lookout for people who want to work with us to empower a sustainable world with green energy.

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Working Student to support the successful delivery of utility-scale renewable energy projects from development through construction and into operational handover.

Working closely with experienced Project Managers, you will gain broad exposure to the entire project lifecycle, supporting the planning, coordination, execution, and commercial management of complex solar PV, battery storage, wind, and other renewable energy infrastructure projects. This role is an excellent opportunity for engineering students who are passionate about the energy transition and aspire to build a career in project management within the renewable energy sector.

Your responsibilities:

You will join our project management team and support the delivery of EPC construction projects. The role is broad. You won’t be expected to cover everything below. Your tasks will depend on your background, interests, and experience, and you’ll grow into more areas over time.

Depending on your focus, you may support us with:

Planning and project controls:

  • Developing and implementing project execution plans, schedules, budgets, quality plans, reporting structures, and risk management plans
  • Tracking project progress against key milestones and KPIs, identifying risks, issues, delays, and cost impacts, and helping implement mitigation measures
  • Monitoring project costs, forecasts, cash flow, invoice verification, and budget performance
  • The invoice payment process and internal approvals

Contracts and commercial management

  • Administering the main EPC contract with clients and monitoring compliance with contractual obligations, rights, and responsibilities
  • Ensuring contractual requirements are reflected in procurement activities, subcontract agreements, project strategies, and execution plans
  • Managing contractual claims, variation orders, and commercial negotiations with clients and subcontractors
  • Technical evaluations and the selection of EPC subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and specialized service providers

Delivery and coordination

  • Coordinating engineering, procurement, quality assurance, permitting, construction, commissioning, and handover activities
  • Ensuring permitting requirements, grid connection requirements, environmental obligations, and technical specifications are incorporated into project planning and execution
  • Managing technical interfaces between contractors, suppliers, utilities, clients, and other project stakeholders
  • Coordinating project activities to ensure timely delivery and a smooth transition into Operations & Maintenance (O&M)

01Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in one of the following fields: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Advanced German (at least B2) and good command of English
  • Good knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Genuine interest in renewable energy and project management
  • Structured, detail-oriented, and proactive way of working
