01About Flock
Road accidents kill and injure people, damage vehicles, and cost businesses fortunes. But traditional insurance does nothing to prevent them - it just pays out claims when they happen. At Flock, we’re changing that. Using telematics, AI, and real-time data, we proactively help our fleet customers prevent crashes. We obsessively focus on keeping drivers safe, and we put our money where our mouth is - paying out millions of pounds per year to fleets that get safer over time.
We were acquired by Admiral in May 2026. Now we combine the backing of the UK’s leading motor insurer with startup energy and speed. We’re growing fast with bigger plans than ever, and we’re hugely optimistic that our approach will save many more lives in the decade ahead.
We’re on a mission to make the world quantifiably safer. Join us!
02About the role
Reporting to Sarah Phillips, you’ll own month-end for Flock’s finance team and strengthen the controls around it, running the close and producing the variance analysis and MI that FP&A and our senior team use for budgeting and reporting. We’re automating finance on our new platform and the team uses AI every day, so there’s plenty of room to improve how the work gets done as well as doing it.
It suits a recently qualified accountant with strong core accounting from practice, who has already improved a process or control somewhere and wants to keep growing within the finance team.
03What you’ll be doing
Own the month-end close from start to finish so it lands accurately and on time.
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and post journals, keeping the ledger clean and well evidenced.
Run variance analysis and build the monthly MI pack, explaining what moved and why.
Strengthen our financial controls and automate manual steps wherever you find them.
Prepare our VAT returns and assist with group reporting.
Work with FP&A so the numbers behind budgets and senior reporting are right.
Support the annual audit and work alongside our external auditors.
Use AI tools in your daily work to speed up reconciliations, analysis and reporting, and share what works with the team.
Pick up ad hoc finance projects, including R&D tax claims if you have the experience.
04What you’ll need
An ACA qualification, ideally recently qualified, although we’ll also consider strong ACCA or CIMA candidates.
A practice background with hands-on month-end experience, whether from non-audit client work or time in industry. Big 4 or not makes no difference to us.
Solid core accounting and close attention to detail, including balance sheet reconciliations, journals and variance analysis.
Experience strengthening financial controls or improving a finance process, with an example you can talk us through.
Curiosity and ambition, with the drive to push things forward and keep learning.
An interest in AI. You don’t need to be an expert, but you should already be using it at work or in your own time and want to do more with it.
Nice to have:
Audit experience.
Experience using NetSuite.
Experience automating finance processes.
Exposure to R&D tax claims.
Experience in the tech sector.

We work hybrid, typically three days a week in our Central London office (fewer office days can be accommodated for longer commute times), a few minutes from Moorgate and Liverpool Street. Visits to client sites, conferences and broker offices count towards office days.
Making the world quantifiably safer takes more than good data. It takes a team where different perspectives are heard, and that’s a priority here. We insure fleets and drivers from every background, and we know a team built the same way makes sharper decisions and a better product for our customers. So we hire on merit, full stop, and we actively encourage applications from everyone. If you don’t tick every box, apply anyway. Just come as your genuine self: the qualities and experiences only you bring are exactly what we want.
