01Role Summary

Our client is seeking a Senior C++ Developer with strong expertise in Embedded Linux for a consulting assignment focused on handheld thermal imaging cameras. You will join an experienced application development team building features and applications for advanced embedded systems.

The software platform supports an extensive product family, resulting in a complex environment that requires a broad system perspective and the ability to understand dependencies, capabilities, and constraints across the platform. The embedded software organization consists of approximately 40 employees divided between an OS team and an application team. The OS team handles hardware-oriented development, including Yocto, platform startup, and board bring-up, while this role belongs to the application team and focuses on C++ software running on top of the underlying platform.

02Key Responsibilities

• Develop application-level features and functionality in C++ for handheld infrared camera products.
• Work with applications running on an Embedded Linux platform across a broad product family.
• Navigate and contribute to a complex embedded software environment with multiple system dependencies.
• Take significant ownership of development activities and independently drive work forward.
• Collaborate across team boundaries to identify sustainable technical solutions.
• Maintain a holistic view of the development process and identify and communicate technical risks at an early stage.
• Contribute to structured problem-solving and shared engineering decisions within the development organization.

03Technical Stack & Requirements

• C++: Advanced application development within embedded products.
• Embedded Linux: Strong practical understanding of Linux-based embedded software environments.
• Embedded Systems: Ability to work effectively within the constraints and capabilities of advanced embedded platforms.
• Platform context: The underlying environment includes Yocto-based platform development and board bring-up, although these are owned by the OS team rather than being the primary focus of this assignment.
• Role boundary: The assignment focuses on application development and does not involve direct driver development or other low-level hardware-facing implementation.

04Qualifications & Experience

The successful consultant is a senior C++ developer with substantial competence in Embedded Linux and experience working in complex embedded system environments. You should be capable of working independently, assuming broad responsibility, and understanding how application-level decisions interact with the wider software platform. The role also requires the ability to recognize technical risks early, communicate them clearly, and collaborate with engineers across organizational and team boundaries.
