About the role

Full text from the employer, as published on Arbeitnow, arranged into sections. Nothing added or removed.

01Your next mission

Train the intelligence behind our radars, turning complex signal data into instant, real-world detection.

As our Deep Learning Engineer, you develop, optimize, and deploy neural networks that enhance real-time radar performance. You work side-by-side with AI, Software Engineering, Hardware, and Product Management colleagues, translating abstract radar signal modalities into models that spot small airborne objects in noisy environments. You report to the Team Lead AI, and your models directly safeguard critical sites around the globe.

02What you'll do

  • Model design and architecture: Design, train, and optimize deep learning models for detection, segmentation, and classification. Tailor neural networks to process abstract, non-natural 3D, 4D, and 5D radar imagery.

  • Target classification and tracking: Build advanced neural network architectures to detect and track small objects like birds and drones. Ensure models perform reliably despite real-world background noise and weather.

  • Data engineering and automation: Prepare, preprocess, and augment large-scale radar datasets for training pipelines. Implement automated labeling strategies to streamline data preparation at scale.

  • Edge optimization and deployment: Optimize trained neural networks for high-performance inference on edge computing hardware. Collaborate with Software Developers and Radar Specialists to integrate models seamlessly into production systems.

  • Research and field validation: Evaluate emerging deep learning techniques to continuously lift our radar capabilities. Test model robustness under diverse field conditions and document design choices clearly.

03What you bring

  • MSc in Data Science, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field

  • 2-4 years of experience in Deep Learning, specifically within Computer Vision

  • Strong proficiency in Python and hands-on experience using PyTorch

  • Practical experience with edge deployment and model optimization tools like TensorRT or ONNX

  • Familiarity with non-natural signal modalities such as radar, sonar, LiDAR, or medical imaging

  • Fluent English, both written and spoken

  • A proactive mindset and strong problem-solving skills in a collaborative environment

04What we offer

  • Working for a Great Place to Work® certified company;

  • Comprehensive pension plan;

  • Commuting allowance;

  • 30 days of paid holiday leave (with the possibility to buy 3 additional days);

  • Opportunities to develop your skills even further through training and certifications;

  • High quality laptop/desktop, monitor, headphones, and any other equipment necessary for your role;

  • An international team of 30+ nationalities, full of high performance colleagues you can exchange experiences with and learn from. As well as having a lot of fun in our social events and Friday drinks!

Robin Radar is a defence technology leader in detecting, tracking and classifying drones and other small airborne objects. Our radars and software protect military sites, borders and critical infrastructure from drone threats, and also help prevent bird strikes in aviation and reduce the impact of wind farms on wildlife. Our work shows up at defence and security sites, airports and wind farms around the world.

We're one of the top 10 fastest-growing companies in the Netherlands, with a crew of bright minds across 30+ nationalities. Growth doesn't mean we lose the plot, eyes on the skies, feet on the ground. Our values keep us grounded: WE TRUST. WE OWN IT. WE AIM HIGH.

Want to work on next-level radar tech, solve real problems, and never have to pretend your job has meaning?

05You'll fit right in, we're saving you a seat
