01Your Mission

As a Propulsion Design Engineer, you will join the Propulsion team and contribute to the development and certification of the VÆRIDION Microliners’ propulsion system. Your primary responsibility will be to mature the physical installation of the electric propulsion system and guide the design from concept through detailed design and release. You will translate system, interface and certification requirements into practical design solutions and take ownership of the associated 3D models, installation assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.

You will work closely with the Propulsion, Systems, and Structures teams, as well as external development partners, to resolve integration challenges and deliver practical design solutions throughout the aircraft development cycle.

The role will have a strong focus on hands-on CAD design, complemented by engineering analysis and certification activities. You will have the opportunity to define and mature the installation of one of the most advanced electric propulsion systems currently being developed. Every day will bring new challenges, and you will be given a healthy amount of responsibility and autonomy, always supported by the team.

02Your Day-to-Day

  • Mature the propulsion system installation from concept through detailed design and release, integrating it into the aircraft digital mock-up (DMU).

  • Design and detail mechanical components, such as, brackets, supports, interfaces and assemblies in accordance with applicable aerospace design standards and manufacturing methods.

  • Create and maintain complex 3D parts, assemblies and installation models using CATIA V6 within the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

  • Prepare and release detailed single part and assembly drawings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards. Oversee the documentation process to ensure all drawings are up-to-date and correctly integrated within the PLM system.

  • Assess system, interface and certification requirements and translate them into robust and practical design solutions.

  • Develop installation solutions that account for structural integrity, environmental conditions, separation, accessibility, installation sequence, removal envelopes, inspection and maintainability.

  • Perform engineering assessments and trade studies to support design decisions and system maturation.

  • Collaborate directly with external development partners and suppliers, providing technical direction, reviewing deliverables and ensuring consistency with aircraft-level requirements.

  • Support the resolution of installation, manufacturing and assembly issues arising during prototype assembly and aircraft integration

  • Ensure adherence to all engineering processes and standards and participate in design reviews to meet development and certification goals.

03Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in a design engineering role on an EASA/FAA Part 23/25 aircraft development program.

  • Experience working within an EASA Part 21J Design Organisation or international equivalent.

  • Practical experience with the design and integration of aircraft powerplant systems. Experience with electric aviation or electric propulsion systems is an asset.

  • Strong proficiency in CAD software, preferably CATIA V5/V6, including experience in part design, generative shape design, sheet metal design, assembly design, and drafting.

  • Sound knowledge of mechanical component design, aerospace materials, standard hardware and manufacturing methods, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, assembly and inspection requirements.

  • Understanding of design-for-manufacture and design-for-assembly principles.

  • Ability to develop and assess installation designs while balancing functional, structural, environmental, certification, manufacturing and maintainability considerations.

  • Experience collaborating with external development partners, engineering service providers or aerospace suppliers.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a methodical approach and attention to detail.

  • A high degree of self-motivation, resilience, reliability and precision, combined with a strong sense of ownership.

  • Collaborative team player with a positive attitude and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural team.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in another European language is an asset.

  • Passionate about aviation and the electrification of the aviation industry.
