Job description

About the role

Full text from the employer, as published on Arbeitnow, arranged into sections. Nothing added or removed.

Our software decides every 15 minutes what a battery should do. You own the layer that makes it happen: our EMS, the interface between our optimizer and every battery we connect. Whether we build our own EMS or integrate existing ones is a call you'll help us make.

  • Own our EMS integration layer: one clean interface that connects any storage system (inverter, BMS, site controller) to our optimizer

  • Onboard new vendors over Modbus, MQTT and vendor APIs, so the next battery is a config, not a project

  • Commission systems on site until the battery follows the plan to the kW

  • Build our own edge box on standard hardware (think Raspberry Pi on a DIN rail)

01Builder with agency

  • Get-shit-done mentality: you'd rather drive to the site than wait for a support ticket

  • High ownership: the EMS interface is yours, from the vendor call to go-live

02Mission-driven

  • Passionate about energy transition and climate impact

  • Thrive in early-stage chaos (e.g. "Can you be in Ingolstadt tomorrow at 8?")

03You Won't Have Fun If You

  • Like to follow processes. We don't have any.

  • Want to work remotely. We're in the office 5 days/week, and regularly on site at customers.

  • Want to stay on one side of the wall. This is half software, half hardware.

04Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with energy management systems (EMS) for battery storage, PV or C&I sites. Ideally you've built or integrated one yourself, whether at work, in your thesis or during an internship. Similar experience counts too (e.g. battery management systems (BMS), SCADA, EV charging, building automation or industrial controls): a lot of that knowledge transfers directly

  • Solid Python and embedded Linux (networking, VPN, remote updates)

  • Industrial protocols: Modbus TCP/RTU, MQTT, REST

  • Electrical basics: inverter, BMS, grid connection point. Bonus: PV/battery commissioning

  • Fluent German, because installers and customers speak German

Fresh out of university? Very welcome. Experience from your thesis, internships or side projects counts just as much as a job title. Don't worry if you don't tick every box: we prefer fast learners over years of experience.

05Perks

  • Super small team, super early: you shape the culture

  • You own the EMS and the hardware: how we connect batteries and which box we ship is your call

  • Direct customer access: see your code move a megawatt-hour battery

  • €70-100K salary + equity as full time · €24/h as working student

Compensation: €70K, €100K • Offers Equity

  • • €70K, €100K • Offers Equity
