Job description

About the role

Full text from the employer, as published on Arbetsförmedlingen (JobTech), arranged into sections. Nothing added or removed.

Do you want to own procurement for the construction of the largest solar and battery storage projects in the Nordics? We are looking for a commercially sharp engineer who wants to master the technology in depth and grow into a skilled procurement professional, in a rapidly evolving industry. Join us and be part of an ambitious team building the energy infrastructure of tomorrow.

What will you do at NYAB?

As our Technical Procurement Engineer, you will work at the intersection of long-term sourcing strategy and practical project delivery, driving procurement for utility-scale solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. You get real responsibility from day one and a steep learning curve, with experienced colleagues by your side as you grow into the full scope of the role.

Your scope will include core components and services such as solar modules, inverters, mounting systems, transformers, batteries, subcontractors and related technical solutions.

In this role, you will:
  • Own the end-to-end procurement lifecycle, from early tendering and supplier evaluation to contracting and execution.

  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive terms, balanced risk positions and strong contractual outcomes.

  • Evaluate supplier offers against technical requirements, cost, quality and delivery needs, working with engineering colleagues to clarify specifications and understand trade-offs.

  • Stay ahead of the market by identifying new technologies, suppliers and system solutions that strengthen our renewable-energy projects and make our supply-chain more resilient.

  • Drive procurement priorities against project requirements, schedules and budgets, and make sure we deliver.

  • You will act as our internal product owner, digging into specifications, drawings and technical documentation together with the engineering team until you know the product as well as the supplier does, and spotting opportunities for optimization.

About you

You are strongly goal-oriented, a self-starter with plenty of grit and a natural talent for making things happen. You bring commercial instinct, sound judgment and a genuine hunger to learn, both the technology and the art of dealmaking. For you, speed and precision go hand in hand: you take ownership of your commitments and willingly go the extra mile when it matters, while building trust with colleagues, suppliers and partners along the way.

 We believe you have:
  • A master’s degree in engineering, preferably within electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or energy systems, recently graduated or planned graduation in 2027.

  • Previous experience from procurement, engineering, project work, construction, energy or another technically oriented environment.

  • A strong interest in sourcing, supplier management and commercial negotiations.

  • Strong cost awareness and the ability to manage priorities within time and budget constraints.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • The willingness to travel internationally to meet suppliers and partners, and to visit project sites in Sweden and abroad.

It is an advantage if you have:
  • Experience from sourcing, supplier contacts or commercial work.

  • Knowledge of solar parks, BESS or related energy infrastructure.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Swedish.
