Senior Engineering Manager, Financial Experience

We’re looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead Financial Experience (FinXP), the team that builds how practices and patients deal with money at Nelly.

That covers how a patient says yes to a treatment they can’t pay for upfront, and how delivered care becomes an invoice, then a payment, then cash in the practice’s account. You’ll lead a team whose work shows up directly in what practices earn and in what Nelly earns.

The problem space: Practices rarely lose revenue because care isn’t needed. They lose it at two points. Before treatment, patients delay or decline because they can’t pay upfront. After treatment, revenue leaks on its way to cash: invoices go out late or wrong, payments get chased by hand, and billing runs through manual steps. The domain Financial OS closes both gaps. We offer financing at the moment the patient decides, through installment plans and factoring, and we turn every delivered treatment into a correct invoice and cash in the practice’s account. Because we sit where treatment is planned, we know what it’s worth and whether it is converted before we take on the risk, which no bank or payment provider can do. We earn a share of the revenue we help collect, so the practice’s growth is our growth.

The domain has two teams. Financial Platform builds the infrastructure that moves money and keeps compliant records of it. Financial Experience builds everything doctors, practice staff, patients and our own teams touch, across the Doctor Portal, Patient Portal and Backoffice.

02Joining us, you will

• Lead, inspire and grow a high-performing team of 3-6 software engineers

• Own hiring for your team, building a team of high-performing engineers

• Work closely with your product manager to build, launch and improve the financial journey iteratively. That starts at the point of decision, with cost plans, credit checks and installment plans, and runs through to collection, with invoicing, dunning and the processing of billing files

• Own the quality, reliability and security of your team's products, delivering highly available production systems that handle sensitive financial and patient data

• Partner with the Financial Platform team to shape the infrastructure your features depend on, and with Nelly's internal teams who use the Backoffice every day.

• Keep your team at the cutting edge of LLM- and AI-based engineering, testing new ideas and tools as they're released

• Stay hands-on, developing alongside your team

• Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Nelly's engineering leadership team

03What you'll bring

• 3+ years as an Engineering Manager and 8+ years of overall experience in software development

• A strong technical background designing, building and owning customer-facing full-stack web applications and the back-end systems behind them, with care for usability and the end-user experience

• A track record of iterating very quickly: defining small scopes to test hypotheses, running A/B tests, measuring impact, and using the results to decide what to build next

• Experience with cloud-native development

• A deep understanding of software engineering processes and team management.

• Empathy and excellent communication skills, with product, design and non-technical users alike

04Even better if you have

• Experience with billing, invoicing, payments, lending or other financial products.

• Experience building products for several user groups at once, such as businesses, their staff and their end customers.

• Familiarity with healthcare billing, for example in German dental or medical practices
